Cat Fight!

Yesterday we took one of our Persian cats, Vito, to the groomer for a "lion cut." His coat had gotten so matted that I couldn't brush out the knots. His fur is so thick and gorgeous, but we decided he really needed to be shaved down. The other Persian, Peanut, wasn't in bad shape so she didn't have to go. When Vito came home, it was a little shocking to see him without any hair! Poor baby! I felt like Chris had brought home the wrong cat! But the saddest part is that Peanut doesn't recognize him either! She's been hissing at him viciously ever since he came home. We can't figure it out! Vito seems devastated; not only did he lose all of his hair, but his best friend won't have anything to do with him! Surely Peanut will get over this soon???? They've been best buds for over a year. Oh well, I can't worry about these crazy cats now that I've got Scarlett! They'll just have to work it out! :

At least Scarlett still loves him!

Cousins!

My niece London came over today to play. She is two and is very interested in Scarlett. She loves to "hold" her, kiss her, and touch her. She wants to share all her toys with her too; it's so sweet. It will be so much fun watching them grow up together. Mandy's second baby, Lily, will be here in a few weeks so she and Scarlett will really be close in age. We can't wait until she gets here! In the meantime, here's a few pics of London and Scarlett playing together!

Hurry up Lily! We can't wait to meet you!

5 Years Ago Today...

Our anniversary is especially meaningful this year not only because it's our five year anniversary but also because it's our first as a family of three!

The past five years have been so much fun with just the two of us. We've had a chance to travel to the Florida Keys, Hawaii, and Cancun. We built our first home and we started our careers. We acquired our first two children, two fluffy Persians, Peanut and Vito. All of these things are special because we were doing them together.

Now, a new chapter of our lives has started as we now have our precious baby girl to experience. It may be a LONG while before we return to Maui, but hey, Disney World will be fun too. It's now all about her, and I'm so glad I know that I'll have my wonderful husband by my side as we experience parenthood hand in hand. Here's some pics of the past five years. Happy Anniversary to us!

I'm a Stay at Home Mom! Well sort of.....

I've always planned to stay home with my children. I know that's not everyone's plan, but it has always been mine. When I was pregnant with Scarlett, I started to panic a little. Chris is a teacher, and he loves his job, but let's face it, teachers don't get paid nearly enough! So I started brainstorming what I could do in order to be at home with her during the day and still make ends meet.

I thought about watching other teachers' children in my home, but the legalities of that seemed a little daunting. Then I tried to find things that would allow me to work from home but never came across anything promising. I even considered selling something like Arbonne, but I'm just not a salesman. Then I thought about using my MLS degree and working part time at a public library. My plan was to work nights and weekends so that I would be home with her during the day, and Chris would take over in the evenings when I went to work. I went ahead and resigned from my full time position as a school librarian at the end of this school year hoping that something would come up.

God was listening to our prayers because about a month ago a part time librarian position became available at a nearby public library, and I applied for it. Well, I got the job!! It is great for us because I will be working part time nights and every other weekend which is what I was hoping for. Now our sweet baby gets to stay at home and will either be with me or Chris (or Auntie Mandy occasionally). We are so blessed that this worked out. Yesterday was my first day. Even though I'll only be away for four hours on most evenings (5-9), it was a little difficult for me emotionally. But she's with her daddy so I really can't ask for a better situation. Here's a pic of my sweet Scarlett and me as I'm about to leave for work!
